who shackleton? or peary? I always get the up and down's, down and up.
Shackleton wrote it in 1913(ish), for the Nimrod expedition.
HE got 5,000 responses. I'm not quite as popular.
It may be hoax however, there's a bit of a debate, as no one has managed to locate the original newspaper it was published in. The first copy that's been found is in a 1948 book "The 100 Greatest Advertisements"- so some people think that author made it up.
I hope it's true, I like it.
