MEN WANTED

For hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success.

Shackleton wrote it in 1913(ish), for the Nimrod expedition.
HE got 5,000 responses. I'm not quite as popular.
It may be hoax however, there's a bit of a debate, as no one has managed to locate the original newspaper it was published in. The first copy that's been found is in a 1948 book "The 100 Greatest Advertisements"- so some people think that author made it up.
I hope it's true, I like it.
